Compliance
Carolina Christian College competes in the NCCAA Division II — a non-scholarship division. The college does not award athletic scholarships. Any financial aid a student-athlete receives is available on the same terms to the general student body.
Eligibility Requirements
- To be admitted and eligible for your first semester of competition, you need a high school diploma and a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- You must be enrolled in a full course load (12 credit hours) during every semester you compete, unless it's your final semester and you need fewer hours to graduate.
- The 24-Hour Rule: you must have earned 24 credit hours before your 2nd year of competition, 48 hours before your 3rd year, and 72 hours before your 4th year — while maintaining a cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Stay enrolled and engaged in your coursework past each semester's official census date. Withdrawing from classes after that date while still on the roster can burn a season of eligibility even if you never earn the credit hours — talk to Compliance before making any changes to your schedule.
Recruiting & Campus Visits
- Carolina Christian, like all NCCAA Division II schools, cannot pay for a prospective student-athlete's travel to visit campus. Visits are self-funded ("unofficial visits").
- During a visit, you're welcome to take a campus tour, meet with faculty and financial aid, and attend a home contest — up to three complimentary tickets are available for you and your family.
- If a tryout is offered, it's limited to a maximum of two days. You'll need a current sports physical (including sickle-cell screening) and a signed waiver before participating.
Transfer Student-Athletes
- If you're currently enrolled at another NCCAA institution, our coaches cannot contact you first. If you reach out to us, we're required to notify your current school in writing within 10 days.
- To transfer to another NCCAA Division II school without sitting out a year, notify your current institution of your intent by July 1.
Medical Hardship Waivers
- A season-ending injury or illness that's completely outside your control — and outside your coaches' control — may qualify you to reclaim a season of competition through a Medical Hardship Waiver.
- The injury must be verified by a physician (M.D. or D.O.) who examined you in person; an athletic trainer's evaluation isn't sufficient on its own.
- Generally, the injury must occur before you've competed in about 20% of the season's contests, and a hardship can't be granted if you played in the final regular-season game or any postseason contest.
- If this situation applies to you, contact the Compliance Office as soon as possible — timing matters.
Amateurism, NIL & Conduct
- As a student-athlete, you remain an amateur: no professional contracts, and no salary for athletic participation.
- You can monetize your Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) — social media, local sponsorships, instructional clinics, personal merchandise — at fair market value. The college cannot pay you directly for NIL, and no coach can offer an NIL deal as an inducement to enroll.
- International student-athletes on an F-1 visa: NIL income can affect your visa status. Clear any NIL agreement with the Designated School Official before you sign anything.
- Disclose any proposed NIL agreement to the Compliance Office before signing, so it can be checked against NCCAA rules and, if applicable, visa regulations.
- Sports wagering and pools that involve an entry fee and a prize tied to athletic outcomes — even casual office pools — are off-limits for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
